Andrew founded Summers Value Partners LLC in 2018 and serves as General Partner for the Summers Value Fund LP. Andrew has 22 years of experience investing across the global healthcare sector including more than 17 years of long/short experience. Andrew started his investment career in 1998 at INVESCO Funds Group where he became co-portfolio manager of a $3.5 billion healthcare fund, including a 1940 Act long/short fund. In 2004, Andrew founded Silvergate Capital Management LLC, a long/short healthcare hedge fund, which he grew to over $100 million in assets while compounding capital at 12.3% per year, net of fees. Andrew joined Janus Henderson Investors in 2008 and spent the following decade making investments across the global healthcare sector, including animal health and consumer health, with $75 billion in assets including an internal hedge fund. He also co-managed the Janus Opportunistic Alpha Fund with $50 million in AUM and was assistant portfolio manager of the Janus Contrarian Fund with $2 billion in AUM. He served as a board observer at Diplomat Pharmacy (DPLO) before its IPO after leading a $54 million private round. Andrew served on the board of directors of Scott’s Liquid Gold (SLGD) and was a member of the audit committee.
Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also completed the school’s Applied Security Analysis Program (ASAP). Andrew has held the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation since 2000.
